Bolton cannot play Wolfsburg loanee Tuncay Sanli until he receives a work permit but manager Owen Coyle feels it will be all sorted soon.
The Turkish attacker joined the Trotters on a season-long loan about two weeks ago but has been unable to make his debut for the Northwest club without the permit.
Coyle has indicated that the necessary paperwork could be received soon and if so, he will be in the squad for tomorrow night's Carling Cup clash with Macclesfield.
"Tuncay has been training on his own and he awaits the work permit," said Coyle.
"If that can be done by today, he will be involved in the cup tie tomorrow night. If not, we are hoping we will have him available for Liverpool.
"We want him in a Bolton shirt as soon as possible."
