Barcelona reignite long-term push for Tottenham defender Vertonghen

Barcelona are reigniting their long-term interest for Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.

AS says former Barca coach Tata Martino wanted to buy Vertonghen last season, but was blocked by the board as they focused on bringing in Neymar from Santos.

Now, Barca are ready to launch a bid, with a fee of €17.5 million being mentioned.

Vertonghen's versatility is attractive to new coach Luis Enrique, who has seen bids for PSG defender Marquinhos and Valencia's Jeremy Mathieu turned down .

For his part, Vertonghen has welcomed Barca's move and is eager to see the deal done.
