Aston Villa's Celtic loanee Tonev still awaiting racism fate

Celtic's Aleksandar Tonev will have to wait two weeks until he learns whether or not he will be banned for alleged racism.

The Bulgarian winger, who is on loan from Aston Villa, copped a seven-match suspension for using 'offensive, insulting and abusive language of a racist nature' towards Aberdeen's Shay Logan in September.

The Hoops appealed the decision after Tonev claimed he was innocent of any wrongdoing but the player will have to wait to discover what will occur after the Scottish Football Association adjourned a meeting at Hampden Park on Thursday evening.

"An appellate tribunal convened to consider an appeal in relation to the decision of the judicial panel disciplinary tribunal taken on Thursday, 30th October 2014, relative to Aleksandar Tonev (Celtic FC)," read the SFA statement.

"The tribunal, having heard submissions, will adjourn for consideration before reaching their determination within the next two weeks."

24-year old Tonev joined Celtic on a season-long loan in August and has since made five Scottish Premiership appearances for the champions.
