Arsenal veteran Campbell could play in Champions League

Arsenal defender Sol Campbell could be back in Champions League action just a few months after playing in League Two with Notts County.

The 35-year old veteran returned to Arsenal last month and will be used as standby in Wednesday night's clash with FC Porto, just in case William Gallas does not get up for the match.

Gallas is trying to get over an ongoing back problem that flared up recently and Arsene Wenger has placed Campbell on standby if the French defender is ruled out.

It would be a remarkable achievement by Campbell who walked out on Notts County in September after just one appearance despite signing a five-year deal and then struggling to find a club throughout the transfer window until the Gunners gave him another chance at the top level.
