Arsenal legend Wright hopes derby winner inspires Man Utd's Owen

Arsenal legend Ian Wright hopes Michael Owen's derby winner will relight the fire inside the Manchester United striker.

In his column for The Sun, Wright wrote: "Just because he has scored the winning goal in the Manchester derby, I am not saying Owen should automatically be selected for his country before predicting he will score our winner in the World Cup final. Nothing of the sort.

"But I just hope the intense feeling he will have enjoyed while racing along the side of the pitch at Old Trafford on Sunday, after scoring United's fourth goal, will spur him on.

"It would be fantastic if Michael could force himself into the thinking of Capello over the next five or six months. First, though, there is one hell of a lot of hard work to do."
