Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic is still holding onto a hope that he may be selected for next year's World Cup.
Despite being overlooked for the Socceroos squad for next month's Asian qualifiers, Galekovic is hoping quality performances in the Asian Champions League may sway Pim Verbeek's selections in the future.
"If you look at it, Brad Jones playing in the English Championship he will be in front of me," Galekovic said.
"But if there is a chance for me, the Asian Champions League could do it if Pim was to pick an A-League keeper.
"I kind of expected not to get picked," he added.
"I wasn't on the shortlist.
"I haven't been playing and for any A-League player you need to be playing to get into the squad."
