AC Milan defender Kakha Kaladze apologised to his nation after scoring TWO own goals in Georgia's 2-0 defeat to Italy in last night's World Cup qualifier.
"The team did well and the lads gave their heart and soul tonight, so I am so very sorry that we conceded two goals and it was my fault. These things happen in football," sighed the captain.
He twice put the ball past his own goalkeeper in tonight's 2-0 World Cup qualifier in Tbilisi, which was his first game in over six months.
"I thanked everyone for showing their support and it does burn, but I must make up for it in future.
"In the second half Italy started very well and we conceded this unlucky goal. I am truly sorry and don't know what else to say. Compliments to Italy.
"I think the only thing the Azzurri are missing is the clinical edge and bit of luck to take their chances, as for example [Vincenzo] Iaquinta also had a great opportunity when it was still 0-0."
