A-League boss Archie Fraser has tipped the three Queensland teams in the competition to succeed.
The Scot has spent more than half of his 30 years in Australia in the northern state and has seen the sport grow dramatically in that time.
He is confident that Brisbane Roar, North Queensland Fury and Gold Coast United will all succeed and have a healthy rivalry, beginning with the Roar and United's derby on Sunday.
"I'm very much looking forward to the derby on the weekend," said Fraser.
"I've been in Australia for nearly 30 years and I've spent nearly 15 of those in Queensland. I've watched how football in Queensland has grown over the years, and it's now culminating in this local derby.
"We wouldn't have put three teams in Queensland if we didn't think it would work," Fraser added.
"The three teams have got great stadiums - that's been a major part of it. There's also the great participation levels of the sport in Queensland, which will help in the ability of the three teams to have a great rivalry."
