AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has outlined the motivations behind buying the club.

He told fortune.com: "We are an engine of monetisation of intellectual property. That's what we do. If you have the right intellectual property, you can absorb the transition changes from one distribution model to another.
"I'm able to look at the sports, media and entertainment industries as ecosystems. And then I look for dislocations.
"I look for areas where there is a need to improve, evolve and professionalise."
