TRAGEDY: Wolfsburg's Junior Malanda dies at 20

Junior Malanda has died in a car accident in Germany.

Reports state that the VfL Wolfsburg youngster was killed on impact when the SUV he was travelling in cleared a guard rail and crashed into a tree near Porta Westfalica in north-central Germany.

Malanda, who was 20 years old, was an up and coming defensive midfielder who had represented Belgium at various youth levels.

During his youth academy days, Malanda spent time with Crystal Palace, Brussels, Anderlecht and Lille before turning pro with the latter club in 2011.

After his time in France with Lille, Malanda moved back to his homeland to join Zulte-Waregem prior to his 2013 move to Wolfsburg.

The Brussels-born midfielder made 23 appearances for Wolfsburg during his time with the Bundesliga outfit.
