Sammon thrilled with contribution in Wigan win

Conor Sammon was thrilled with his contribution in Wigan Athletic's amazing win over West Ham United.

Former Kilmarnock striker Sammon bagged his first-ever Premier League goal midway through the second half to level the scores - before Charles N'Zogbia sealed victory with virtually the last kick of the game.

"I've never played in a game like it," Sammon gushed to the Wigan Evening Post.

"We showed tremendous character, and we've done the impossible really. Football is a very strange game, and anything is possible. You go in 2-0 down at half-time but you have to remain positive.

"You think that if you can nick an early goal it's game on again. Thankfully that proved to be the case.

"I was very keen to make an impression, and I was over the moon with my goal. It was a dream come true for me.

"Now we have to show the same character and the same fighting spirit at Stoke next week."
