Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is convinced Newcastle United are a sleeping giant.
Rodgers reckons that it was the summer in 2012 when United should have really kicked on.
Yet Newcastle's board only released limited funds to sign Ajax star Vurnon Anita.
Rodgers told the Evening Chronicle: "When they came fifth and just missed out, that was the time to go and then add a couple of strong players.
"They get over 50,000 every week. It's an incredible club. The supporters, the passion, the history...
"They've got the perfect manager for it - but he needs support."
