Hull winger Boyd happy with 'White Pele' tag

Hull City winger George Boyd has laughed off his nickname the 'White Pele'.

Boyd could start at Wembley today against Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

"I don't know why the Stevenage fans gave me that nickname," Boyd told the Daily Express. "The Stevenage supporters started it and it followed me to Peterborough, so it has caught on.

"I remember I was about 18 and the fans sang it after one of the last games of the season. It was then on the back of a fanzine and I have still got a copy of it. It just says the 'White Pele - 33', my shirt number.

"I took it as a compliment and at that age anything connected with Pele was fantastic. It was basically just a very funny song and of course, very flattering.

"It has been six or seven crazy years and a year ago I was playing for Peterborough, so it has been brilliant. I can't believe it really."
