Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino hopes his move will earn him a return to the Italy squad.
The striker, a scorer of 17 goals in 47 caps, won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, but he hasn't featured heavily in the plans of Cesare Prandelli.
"I'm always aiming for the Azzurri shirt and I want to be a part of Euro 2012," stated the January arrival from Fiorentina.
"It would also be splendid if I could feature in the friendly against America at the end of this month as that will be played at Genoa."
