England captain Rio Ferdinand was decidedly unhappy with the start his side made in their eventual 2-1 loss to France at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The Manchester United defender was critical of the England team for failing to get things going early enough which subsequently led to their demise against a revitalized Les Bleus line-up.
"We could do better. We didn't really pass the ball and we didn't really get going until the last 15 minutes," he told ITV1.
"We didn't play to our strengths today. We didn't control the ball and we didn't retain possession."
But for all the negatives, Ferdinand was buoyed by the performances of youngsters Andy Carroll, Kieran Gibbs and Jordan Henderson.
"I thought Andy Carroll did well today, Kieran Gibbs and Jordan Henderson handled it well," he added.
