Stromberg says the achievement is only partly down to the work of coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
He said at a function today: "For us in Bergamo it is something exceptional, no one could have thought that Atalanta could reach these levels. Now everyone knows what it's Atalanta, even abroad. I don't think anyone could believe that Atalanta would confirm themselves at this level in Europe. Congratulations to everyone.

"The secret is the whole thing. Obviously Gasperini created a situation like this, but if he didn't have a club like that behind him and players like that it wouldn't have been possible.
"Everyone gave what was needed to get to this level."
