The South Korean is aware of how much he is admired by Spurs fans worldwide.
Son also has a huge fanbase in his native Korea, who he has helped to international trophies.
On Spurs, he said in the club’s last matchday programme of the season: "It's been almost 10 years at this amazing club. To be honest, it's been an incredible journey.
“There have been so many players I've played alongside and managers I've worked with who have been so helpful and brought me so many fond memories and respect along the way."
He added: "I still want to make things happen. It's not down to me to decide if I'm a legend at this club.
“I wouldn't call myself a legend because I want to win something here and that's why I'm so committed.
“I think we have a bright future with this manager and this squad so we have to keep improving so we can achieve more together."
"When my time does come to leave this amazing club, I hope everyone can call me a legend which will be a huge honour and one I would be so grateful for," he added.
