Newcastle have Ashworth on gardening leave and they are not agreeing on compensation with the Red Devils.
Per The Star, there is no agreement and it does not appear either side will budge.
Newcastle wanted around £20 million in compensation, while United are said to have offered £3 million.
Now the Red Devils will have to decide if they want to move onto another target.
