The American has to sell his shares in Crystal Palace before he can do any such deal.

Wyness told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “The Textor deal is still not officially dead. It seems as though he’s struggling to make progress with the Premier League over putting his Crystal Palace shares in a trust, allowing him to work with Everton.

“Certainly, he’d be quickest to pass the owners’ and directors’ test because he’s already in place at Palace. That would be a huge positive in his favour.

“But the speculation and interest from his group certainly seems to be waning at this point.”
