Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has revealed that he chose to stay at PSV for an extra six months before moving to England.
The forward was linked to Manchester United in the summer of 2022, but they never put in a bid.

Late in that window, Leeds United did have an offer accepted for Gakpo, but he chose to stay put.
Having eventually signed for the Reds in January 2023, Gakpo told ESPN Netherlands: "You have a difficult decision to make.
"And then you go to prayer to talk to God and ask for wisdom. I got that. I presented the three options I had to God.
“People might think I'm strange. I could go to Southampton, Leeds came into the race and PSV wanted me to stay.
“If I scored once, I would go to Southampton. If I scored twice I would go to Leeds and if I scored three I would stay at PSV (he scored a hat trick in the game in question and stayed).”
