Veteran Uruguay captain Diego Godin knows fans will be excited by the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa.

The former Leeds manager is in advanced talks to take the Uruguay job.

Velez Sarsfield defender Godin said: "Do I want him as coach? I can't say because I have the utmost respect for all coaches who can lead the Uruguayan national team. We'll talk about it when we know who the coach is.

"Am I surprised? Yes, it was a surprise, because it's a name that hasn't come out in the last few days.

"Obviously, a name as strong as Bielsa's generates surprise and enthusiasm in people because he's a great coach".
