Udinese director Cristiano Giaretta has confirmed Luis Muriel's move to Sampdoria is off.

Muriel's medical raised an injury which would take the striker three weeks to recover.

"It happened simply because the recovery time we had estimated for the player was different to that of Sampdoria," Giaretta explained.

"We took note of that and brought the player home. We've communicated the news to him, now I'll wait for him here and we'll talk in person.

"We're here for him, we've evaluated his mental condition, we're not naive. We have things under control.

"Will he be available for Napoli in the Coppa? We'll have to see, because the player has not trained this week."
