Sporting Gijon are competing with Olympique Marseille for Racing Club midfielder Marcus Acuna.

Marseille chief Andoni Zubizarreta has flown to Argentina to check on Acuna and sound out Racing about a fee for the player.

However, La Voz de Asturias says Sporting are also in contact with Racing for Acuna.

Zubi and OM are regarded as favourites to land Acuna - with a deal proposed for January.

However, in Spain it's claimed, if OM cannot get a deal done, Sporting will step in with the view to landing Acuna for the summer market.
