Southampton boss Hasenhuttl: Armstrong not at his best

Southampton star Stuart Armstrong could be on course for lesser involvement for the first team as a Saints player.

The Scottish international may be 30, but he still believes that he can contribute positively.

He has been involved in nearly every game, but most of his appearances have come off the bench.

Asked about Armstrong's role this term by the Daily Echo, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl stated: “Important in the team, like every season in the end.

"I think Stuey always had some moments where he was not on the highest level but then he showed his quality immediately."

He added: “Good performances are always helpful and, in the end, it very often depends on the tactic and the way we want to play, that is part of the duels for the selection for the team.

“We have to see what we are facing and what we need."
