Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali admits West Ham beat PSG to the signing of Gianluca Scamacca.
Carnevali says the Irons will prove the better option for the striker.
"No Italian team made an offer to sign him, PSG were the first club to talk to us," he told Sky Italia.
“In the end, we reached an agreement with West Ham and we had to say no to PSG, but I think it's the right step for the player."
Domenico Berardi, meanwhile remained at the Mapei Stadium, extending his contract until 2027.
“Domenico is our best signing, he has renewed for five years. He had received offers, but he will become a point of reference for the newcomers," added Carnevali, who also commented on former Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin.
“Bellerin? We lost the race against Barcelona, it can happen," he said smiling.
