What Real Madrid coach Ancelotti told Koeman on touchline after victory at Barcelona

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had a message for Ronald Koeman at the final whistle after victory at Barcelona on Sunday.

Real Madrid were comfortable winners at the Nou Camp, with David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez the scorers for the visitors, to heap more pressure on Koeman and his position at Barca.

At the final whistle, both coaches were seen exchanging words on the touchline and it was clear that Italian Ancelotti was showing support for his opposite number. Koeman had gone into the game with a dark cloud over his future as Barca coach after a recent run of disappointing results.

Ancelotti's celebration at the end of the game was no more than a clenched fist before quickly making a beeline for Koeman to offer a word of encouragement.

"It's a tough job, you have to keep going," he said to the Dutchman, showing real empathy, reports Marca. Koeman responded with a smile. The two senior coaches are both former Everton managers.

In his post-match presser, Ancelotti was also respectful towards Koeman and his team, insisting the Blaugrana had played well themselves despite ending the day with nothing to show for their work.

"I'm happy to win El Clasico because it's the most important match," Ancelotti said after the game. "They [Barcelona] also played well.

"It wasn't an easy game, so winning it makes us very happy."
