Really? Neville blames 'significant complexities' for Morrison Man Utd failure

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has had his say on Ravel Morrison's problems at the club.

Derby player-coach and ex-United striker Wayne Rooney suggested that Morrison, now of Sheffield United, did not have the work rate to match his talent, but Neville feels that was not the case.

"When Ravel was 13, categorically Sir Alex Ferguson said this was the biggest talent he'd seen at the club since Ryan Giggs, and that is an enormous statement from someone like Sir Alex Ferguson," Neville told Sky Sport.

"It was a really good era for Man Utd in terms of producing young players, and Ravel was special, really special.

"I don't think it was down to his attitude or lack of work rate. Ravel had some significant complexities and challenges in his life that I think any of us would have found difficult to deal with and ultimately from that point of view they have meant he has not quite achieved what he should have achieved.

"But the bit that I still hope for, I don't think he'll get to the top or play for England like he maybe could have done. What I would hope though is he can have a stable life and a stable football career. And off the back of that maybe have something he can focus his attention on."
