Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits he took up the profession thanks to Los Merengues legend Iker Casillas.

He also indicated that he used to closely watch Edwin van der Sar, whose style was similar to his.

"When Iker [Casillas] started playing for Real Madrid, I watched his games and became a goalkeeper because of him," Courtois said on social media.

"I liked to watch him, and I loved Real Madrid.

"When at the age of 14 I saw that I was very tall and skinny, I followed Van der Sar a lot because he was closer to my style."
