Rangnick suffers first loss after Wolves beat Man Utd at Old Trafford

Wolves have handed Ralf Rangnick his first loss as manager of Manchester United after a deserved 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

The visitors controlled the opening half-hour and did so again once the game was drawing to a conclusion when Joao Moutinho struck.

The Portuguese midfielder drove through a packed penalty area after a soft headed clearance from Phil Jones, who was making his first league start in two years.

It took a magnificent save from Jose Sa deep in stoppage time to prevent United from stealing a point.

Bruno Fernandes saw his curling free-kick saved by the Wolves shot-stopper, ensuring Bruno Lage's side would take all three points.

The Molineux outfit are now three points and one place behind United in eighth.

For Rangnick, it is back to the drawing board after the problems which arose under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were once again at the fore on Monday night.

The midfield was too easily overrun and Cristiano Ronaldo lacked presence up front, leading to United's first defeat since Solskjaer's final game in charge, at Watford, on 20 November.
