Philadelphia Union extend lifeline to Szetela

Expansion franchise Philadelphia Union have extended a MLS lifeline to Danny Szetela after he was recently released by DC United.

The 22-year old midfielder has been brought in for a two-week trial with the Union by head coach Peter Nowak who coached in the 2008 US Olympic team.

Szetela kicked off his career with Columbus Crew in 2004 before trying his luck in Spain with Racing Santander who he joined in August 2007. During his time there he was sent out on loan to Italian club Brescia before returning to MLS last season where he played for DC in the latter stages of 2009.
