Check Tiote is set to finally complete his transfer to the Chinese Super League, according to Sky Sports.

The Newcastle United defensive midfielder is in the Far East to finalise a move to Shandong Luneng having agreed terms with them on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

Tiote, 30, is undergoing a medical with Shandong and is expected to sign in the next 24 hours.

The Ivory Coast international has appeared just three times under Rafa Benitez this season, including only 15 minutes of action in the Championship.

He will join former Magpies striker Papiss Cisse and ex-Southampton star Graziano Pelle at Shandong.
