Man City captain Gundogan warms to Barcelona move

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is eager to join Barcelona this summer.

The 32-year-old's City contract expires at the end of June and he could join Barcelona in a Bosman move, Their offer is a two-year deal, says Sport.

Talks have been ongoing between Barca and Gundogan since the New Year. The veteran has been at City since 2016 but he now feels ready to depart, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

Barcelona boss Xavi has made a 'special request' to sign Gundogan despite the club's financial difficulties, seeing him as an ideal addition to his system.

In order to make high-profile signings, Barcelona will have to significantly reduce their wage bill and they are looking to slash it by 200 million euros (£175.8million).
