Leicester boss Rodgers insists Pereira upbeat after injury shocker

Leicester City fullback Ricardo Pereira is staying positive after being ruled out for the remainder of the season.

On Monday night, Pereira has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in a tackle with Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and will sit out the rest of the season. He now faces four-to-six months out.

“I think he was surprised, like us all," said manager Brendan Rodgers. “He felt it was sore, but he didn't expect it to be that bad.

“[On Thursday morning] he was upbeat considering, but disappointed at the same time. There's nothing he can do.

“He's been brilliant in all the time I've been here. To lose him is bitterly disappointing.

“He can just concentrate on getting fit and getting ready for the new season."
