Danny Ings has had a major influence on Shane Long's new Southampton contract.
Reports broke on Monday claiming Long was set to be rewarded with an extension.
The Irishman has only scored twice this season, but Ings pushed the club to keep him at the club.
Ings, who has scored 14 goals this season, loves playing alongside Long and think he is the best possible strike partner for him to score, per the Daily Express.
With a spot in England's Euro2020 squad on the line, Ings wants the 33-year-old to feel comfortable at St. Mary's, given his contract expires at the end of the season.
