FOOTIE TWEETS: West Brom's Odemwingie kicks like a horse, Popov spits like an Egyptian camel and plaudits for Man Utd's de Gea

Peter Odemwingie showed a very humorous side on Twitter this week but it had nothing to do with the fallout from his failed move to QPR on deadline day….well maybe a tiny bit.

The West Bromwich Albion striker and defender Goran Popov are the two Baggies players to receive red cards this season - one for kicking and one for spitting - and Odemwingie found it hilarious that the pair were sought out for autographs at a recent training session.

This series of tweets shows that Odemwingie does not take himself too seriously with a quick reference to that fateful day in late January when the football community took the mickey out of him for trying to get into Loftus Road!

"Cos of the snowing we had to train at the stadium today. Not to go with two cars I offered Popov to drive.

"He answered he doesn't trust me as we could end up in london hahahahaha so we went in his car.

"After the training we signed a shirt two Albion fans. When they left I started laughing at us both. How do people see the two red card boys.

"One kicks out like a angry horse. The other spits like an Egyptian camel hahahahaha unforgettable red cards. Hope we never do that again." - Very funny Osaze!

Away from failed transfers and amusing red cards, former Barcelona and Tottenham striker Gary Lineker suggested that the Baggies were lucky to come away with a 2-0 win against Liverpool on Monday night.

"Mad night at Anfield. One of the beauties of football though, is that a team can be thoroughly outplayed yet still win," he posted.

He was also irked by the form of Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner who continued to almost breach the rules of the game during the Champions League clash with Celtic on Tuesday.

"Lichtsteiner is an unbelievably irritating human being," he said of the Swiss defender who incessantly tangled with Hoops forwards at Celtic Park in his sides 3-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Michael Owen was full of optimism for his former club Liverpool BUT only if they bring in some decent players in the summer.

"My word. This is a crazy game. West Brom hardly been in Liverpool's box yet they are 1 up," he posted during the Reds' defeat.

"I see much more in Liverpool to be optimistic about than I did 3 months ago. A couple of quality additions in the summer could do the trick."

Former Albion trialist Bill Hamid, currently with DC United, was full of praise for Baggies keeper Ben Foster for his performance at Anfield and the pair exchanged a bit of pre-Valentine's Day love this week.

Hamid: "Benny Boy!! Top Class you are!! Many congrats and best wishes the rest of the way!"

Foster: "ta bill!! U all good mate?"

Hamid: "all is good friend.. preseason in Florida at the moment. Jumped off the bed when you got your left hand to it," he responded in reference to Foster's penalty save from Steven Gerrard.

Not to be forgotten, our favourite Twitterphile Joseph Barton was also full of adulation for a fellow competitor, but his was directed at Juve's divine star Andrea Pirlo.

"Does Pirlo ever give the ball away? He also has beautiful, god like hair!," was what we got from the cultured midfielder.

And Rio Ferdinand was having trouble getting some zzzzz's after Manchester United's impressive effort in the 1-1 draw at Real Madrid.

" Yep, still up!! Insomnia is here alive + kicking!! Great atmosphere tonight, Both sets of fans played their part in creating that."
