Former Liverpool and Crystal Palace defender Mahamadou Sakho is delighted with his first months at Montpellier.

Sakho joined MHSC in August as a free agent.

"This is the project that was proposed to me," said Sakho. "It spoke to me. I also wanted to get closer to my mother who is a little sick. And then, I wanted my children to discover my country, their country, France, because they've been growing up in England for eight years.

"It's always good to come home so that they can grow up with this French culture, learn the language."

He added, “Everything happened naturally. Of course I haven't played since January. The causes are known, some injuries. But honestly, it's a new page being written for me. So I feel better and better. We worked a lot and I think it shows."
