Nottingham Forest want to bring Martin O'Neill back to the City Ground.
The News of the World says O'Neill has emerged as the shock front-runner to succeed Billy Davies if he quits the City Ground...and mirror his mentor, Brian Clough.
Davies has a strained relationship with the Forest board over their failure to provide funding for the team and the strangely titled "transfer acquisitions committee".
O'Neill quit Aston Villa five days before the start of the Premier League and has made it clear he wants to take time out of the game.
But Forest insiders are convinced O'Neill could be tempted by the prospect of leading the club back into the Premier League.
