Bale happy to contribute to Tottenham cause with goals

Gareth Bale proved the match-winner for Tottenham today as they overcame London rivals QPR 3-1 at White Hart Lane.

The Welsh ace netted in the 20th and 72nd minutes as Spurs controlled large portions of the match but were never really free of threat from a plucky R's outfit who got themselves back in the contest via Jay Bothroyd in the 62nd minute.

But Bale scored a timely goal with just under 20 minutes remaining to give Harry Redknapp's men a two goal buffer and he was pleased to contribute to a vital victory for his side.

"It's just good to get goals and help the team which is the most important thing and the three points which is vital to lift us back into the top six," he told Sky Sports 1.

"It's always good to get goals but it was a great team performance today. In the first half we played some unbelievable stuff and the second half, we didn't come out the greatest but finished them off and got the vital three points.

"They were just starting to get on top and were putting a bit of pressure on us," he said of his second goal. "Obviously the goal eased it off and kind of gave us that foothold in the game which we needed and we have seen it out in the end which is very important.

"We've been playing well, we've been playing our own stuff and concentrating on our own football and scoring goals is an important part of our game, which we've been doing of late."
