Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says they tried everything to keep hold of Lucas Hernandez.

The France defender will move to Bayern Munich this summer after they agreed to meet his €80m buyout clause.

Simeone said: "First of all, I would like to thank Lucas Hernandez for all his work over the years, which has not been as many as we wanted but has been very intensive.

"He gave us a lot both as a football player with his abilities, but also his values and work ethic that he brought into the dressing room, we love him very much.

"As a club, we did everything we could to keep him, but he made the decision to change teams, so we wish him the best for the future."
