Aston Villa are moving to secure 17-year-old Dundee United defender Kerr Smith.

The youngster is extremely talented and versatile, as he can play as both a center back and full back.

He is known to Villa boss Steven Gerrard from the latter's time in charge at Rangers in Scotland.

According to the Daily Mail, Villa could sign Smith for less than a million, with the deal likely including performance-related bonuses.

Smith has played 12 times for the Dundee first team, while he also has caps for the Scottish Under-19 side.
