Arsenal goalkeeper Cech ruled out of Tottenham derby

Arsenal will be without Petr Cech for this weekend's North London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The third-placed Gunners make the short trip to take on local rivals Spurs, who sit second, at White Hart Lane on Saturday at lunch time but will have to navigate Mauricio Pochettino's men without star goalkeeper Cech.

The former Chelsea man, who has a Premier League-high 12 clean sheets this term, aggravated a groin issue and sustained a calf injury in Wednesday night's disappointing home defeat to Swansea City and will be replaced by David Ospina for the crunch clash confirms Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

"He (Cech) struggled. He had a little groin problem before the game and I think he struggled a little bit tonight," said the Frenchman.

"He will not play on Saturday. (But) I trust Ospina completely."

Regarding Cech's expected absence, Wenger added: "I don't know, we have to see. It's a muscular problem, a calf problem and I don't know how long he will be out for."

Central defender Laurent Koscielny, who missed the midweek meeting with the Swans, will also be sidelined for the weekend's derby due to a calf problem of his own.
