Arsenal boss Unai Emery has approved the sale of Nacho Monreal to Real Sociedad.

Monreal, 33, is in the final year of his Emirates contract and knows he will not be offered a new deal to extend his stay.

Manager Unai Emery is happy for the Spanish international to remain at the club this season and leave as a free agent next summer, says The Sun.

But he will not stand in Monreal's way if the player decides to join Sociedad, who are offering him a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

But Arsenal are expected to demand a nominal fee of around £3million for their longest-serving first team regular who joined from Malaga in a £8.5million deal six years ago.
