After their dramatic FA Cup quarterfinal defeat at Manchester United on Sunday, Klopp stormed out of an interview with Frederiksen.

"Ah, come on. You're obviously not in great shape and I don't have the time for you. Such a question What is wrong with you? What did you want with that?" snapped Klopp after being asked about his team flagging in extra-time.

Frederiksen later told Bold: "I did not perceive it at all the way others have experienced it. People think like that because there is an obesity epidemic in England and they are very aware that you shouldn't say things like that.

"But it wasn't in that context at all. It was about him thinking it was a bad journalistic question, and it wasn't about me being fat, which I'm not, by the way.

"I can guarantee you that my BMI is lower than the average German, but that was not what it was about at all. It was about the journalistic side, so it was fished out of a context, and it's nothing to worry about."

On becoming a meme, the Viaplay reporter continued: "It actually annoys me. It's kind of more his fault than mine, but it wasn't meant as a slur on my part. So I actually think it's a shame that it's going to be about that.

"But I also think it's a shame that the interview ended the way it did, because the match was so great. It was a fantastic football match, so it's a shame that the focus is more on the fact that we had a battle."

After the camera went off, the drama didn't stop. Jrgen Klopp was not done being angry.

"I went after him, and then he boxed away with the microphone, because he thinks it was annoying that I kept sticking it at him so I could get the whole thing. Afterwards, he shouted and went down the hall, where there were many gathered in a small area.

"There are many journalists who almost stand in line to do interviews, and they almost stood pressed against the wall and were like: 'what?'.

"I kept shouting back at him, so it was a special experience."

What did he shout?

"Well, only the fact that it was a stupid question and what the hell was I really doing. It was actually just in the same ballpark."

Asked if Klopp should apologise, he also said: "No not at all. I perceive the session as an expression of Jrgen Klopp's extreme winning mentality. You don't become one of the world's best coaches if you don't hate losing, so I actually feel more that it was his frustrations with the defeat than frustration with my questions.

"That's what triggered it, so I don't put anything into it. So no, I must have no excuse. It was just a small thing, I think.

"No, I don't regret it at all. Those were the most harmless and innocent questions you can possibly find out of the bag."
