"For the last majority of the game we nullified their press," Ward told Palace TV. "I think they only had maybe a handful of half-chances and opportunities. So obviously to concede so late on is bitterly disappointing.
"It's something that we need to learn from. I think we're moving in the right direction and I think that shows in the performances and the quality of the performances over the last few weeks. But it's obviously disappointing not to come away with all three points.
"(The manager is) pleased with the way in which we're going. He sees the dedication, the work rate that we're all putting in to implement what he wants to try to do.
"Obviously, words can't really console you when you concede so late on. It's a bitter one to take and it's a hard one to take.
"But we continue to move forward, and then we go into (Nottingham) Forest after this break and make sure that we put things right."
