Despite their best efforts, they lost 2-1 away from home to sixth placed Chelsea on Sunday.
Post-game, Iraola told Sky Sports: "I am very happy with the performance today, we deserved much more but you have to take your chances against this kind of opposition. I am happy.
"Today we wanted to win, we knew we were facing a very good team. The first goal is amazing from the halfway line. We put them under pressure in the second half but we couldn't finish the job. We finished the season very competitive but I am OK with how we played today.
"Some players have been training very well and not had the minutes they deserved. Having competition has made them push and we need it for next season.
"I am not expecting any change but you never know. I see Solanke performing well and he is in a good place but we cannot guarantee anything with any player.
"We have to continue. We will have time off but we need to improve things for next season. It is not going to be easy but we have to continue on the same line. I have enjoyed it. It has made me improve a lot. It is a big challenge."
