But Gudmundsson has suggested he could be staying with Genoa after being asked about playing again with Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

The pair played together AZ Alkmaar and Gudmundsson was asked about playing with Koopmeiners in the future.

"Yes, I would like it very much. Maybe he can come to Genoa,  he is a good friend," he said.

He also revealed: "Coach Alberto Gilardino always tells me to be strong in front of goal."
