Former Russia striker Sergei Yuran admits he turned down Liverpool.
Yuran had the chance to join the Reds in 1991.

He recalled to Sport-Express: "It was there that I was supposed to leave Dynamo Kyiv. I had already been issued an English visa, the negotiations were successful. All that remained was the medical examination.
"At the last moment everything changed. I flew to Lisbon because Benfica offered more money for me.
"No (I didn't regret it), why? Benfica was also making quite a splash back then. A good time in Portugal. It’s just that back then it wasn’t the players themselves who chose the club, but everything was decided for them."
