Hojlund finally ended his 21-game goal drought for Manchester United against Leicester City at the weekend in what has been a season filled with immense pressure weighing down the 22-year-old after his £72M move from Atalanta in August 2023.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, Napoli boss Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the Danish star back to the Serie A where he thrived before his move to the Premier League. Hojlund has struggled as part of a bottom-half team this season and this move could help revive his career which has taken a turn for the worse.
Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray, is available this summer for £63M but a straight swap for Hojlund could be on the cards considering United’s links to various forwards who they believe would be better options under manager Ruben Amorim. The deal could be beneficial for both parties ahead of the new season which should see a major shift in Amorim’s failing squad.
The Nigeria striker is the leading scorer in the Turkish top flight with 26 goals in all competitions and United would likely be interested in taking in one of Europe’s deadliest strikers. However, his potential swap partner Hojlund spoke recently about his form and his goal at the weekend which may help his case for staying in the Premier League.
"I think it comes down to my performances as well. I think obviously I've not been on top of my game as I wanted to and we're still adapting to a new system and some new positions. But I think I've been growing into it lately and starting to look a bit better.
"But I'm just happy to get on the scoresheet and I'm sure they will come more now. I'm happy, but it's not all about goals. I'm obviously very happy to get my goal and it gives me a lot of confidence.
"I think we're starting to get a bit more of a connection between myself and the players, then starting to understand what my qualities are even more and playing to them as well.
"I'm developing and starting to understand their qualities as well, and that's what the manager wants. He wants us to play to our strengths and now we're starting to find each other even better.
