Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards were hugely amused by Paul Gascogine this week.

The former Newcastle United and Tottenham star was once the darling of English football.

Gascoigne, who has been public about his issues with alcoholism, spoke about turning down Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United in his heyday.

'Gazza what idiot turns down Man United?' Shearer, who did the same, asked the legendary attacking midfielder during an interview on The Rest Is Football Podcast.

Gascoigne responded: “People always say would it have been different if I had signed for Man United? Would he (me) have kept us under control?

“Well, Eric Cantona two-footed somebody in the neck in the stands. Wayne Rooney went with a granny. And Ryan Giggs went with his brother's wife... So I might have fitted in!”

All the pundits were then laughing at the response, with Richards ending up on the floor.

Lineker added: “Ah Micah's on the floor! Where are you, Micah? You still around?”
