He told Numero Diez: "What I know is that Milan have been following Renato Veiga for a long time. Obviously with the opening of the transfer market they could try to make a move, now they are still interested and are observing his performances.
"However, there is nothing yet concretely, no official offer from Milan. There are various clubs from the top 5 leagues with which I have already had contact. We will see what will happen... There are clubs from Ligue 1, Premier League and another Serie A club (in addition to Milan). They have been interested for a while.
"Even during the winter transfer window there were discussions and information but, in agreement with the player, we decided to end the season in Basel and postpone everything to the summer session, closing all possibilities."
He continued: "Renato is very ambitious. The idea has always been to join Basel, have a good season and help the club achieve its goals. At the moment his recovery from the injury is progressing well, he has already recovered to run. He will be back playing within a few weeks.
"Fortunately the damage suffered from the sprained ankle was not serious, but annoying. I can't wait for him to return. He has had the opportunity to grow and show off in the eyes of more clubs. At the end of the season he wants to take the next step, if the conditions suit him and Basel. He is now capable of playing at a higher level."
